The Florida Appellate Alliance is a network of appellate law firms strategically located throughout Florida. The Alliance allows member firms to leverage their individual talent and resources to provide clients with the service and scope expected of even the most prominent national firms, while providing additional benefits that are unmatched — flexibility, efficiency, and recognized expertise in prosecuting and defending appeals in Florida state courts and the Eleventh Circuit. The firms handle a wide variety of appellate matters, including commercial, construction, eminent domain, personal injury, constitutional, family and criminal appeals. Collectively, they have handled over 500 appeals in the last five years, including successful appeals to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of Florida, and all five Florida district courts of appeal.
The firms' attorneys include two retired Florida appellate judges and seven appellate specialists with board certification from The Florida Bar. Several clerked for federal and state appellate judges, and all are leaders within The Florida Bar, recognized for their contributions to appellate practice in the state. John G. Crabtree currently chairs the Bar's Appellate Court Rules Committee and is a past chair of the Appellate Practice Section.
Christopher Carlyle has been appointed to the Appellate Court Rules Committee and the governing Executive Council of the Appellate Practice Section. Shannon McLin Carlyle serves on the Appellate Practice Certification Committee, and John S. Mills is the past chair of the Appellate Court Rules Committee and a member of the Section's Executive Council. Full biographies for each firm and its members are available at the web sites below.
